They were very scared and wouldn't approach people. Rescuers set up several humane traps in hopes of helping the kittens.
After a few attempts, the kittens were caught individually and brought to a local shelter.

When Asa, a volunteer, heard about this, she couldn't stay away and offered her assistance. And her seven-year-old dog, Kona, was excited to have new students.
Kona had been bored without kittens for a few days since her last students went to their new families.
"We watched her be sad for a few days, and eventually, we managed to cheer her up," says Asa.
Upon arrival, Blair, a beautiful cat, was very shy. She had limited contact with humans in her life and was hesitant to start any interaction. And it was Kona who knew exactly what the kitten needed.
Kona wanted to meet the newcomer. She followed Blair, persistently grooming and cuddling her. With so much love and attention, the young, timid kitten quickly overcame her shyness.
While her instincts told her to run and hide, she stayed where she was, absorbing the loving care from her new friend. Blair soon started purring and even attempted to drink milk from Kona, as if she were her mother.
The following day, Blair's brother, Chester, arrived. The ginger boy had socialization issues.
Needless to say, Kona came to his aid as well.
She rushed over and climbed right into his carrier, embracing him. Then she lay down next to Chester, as if assuring him that he was safe.
"I don't know how Kona does this. She has some special magic," says Asa.
With Kona's help, both kittens gradually started to relax and open up.
