Few people know that a routine procedure like an oil change at a service center also involves certain risks.
They can manifest when the driver forgets about the visit to the service center and causes significant damage.
Here's information on how unscrupulous mechanics deceive ordinary citizens in their pursuit of quick money.
Let's start with the fact that lubricant is often not replaced at all in auto repair shops. To create the illusion of work, they meticulously clean the filter.
They may even smear the oil filler neck, pretending that a little spilled out during the filling process. This method works especially well with car owners, mostly men, who have bought crossovers with diesel engines.
After all, the oil in such engines darkens almost instantly. Besides, a woman wouldn't want to open the hood and remove the dipstick.
Another simpler method is deception during the calculation of all performed tasks. Mechanics round up the quantity of poured oil in their favor.
For example, if the power unit requires 4.25 liters of oil, you'll be charged as if it were five liters. And there's no guarantee that they'll give you the remaining amount in a container.
They can also be more elegant and pour a cheaper "liquid." After all, all service centers buy oil in 200-liter barrels, which are usually stored in warehouses. That's why you don't see them in the service areas.
The driver won't realize that the engine of their car ended up with something other than what they requested.
Finally, there's one more cunning move. On many vehicles, oil is renewed by suctioning it out through the dipstick hole using a special machine. However, they may not fully extract the old oil intentionally.
Then they fill it up with new oil, and everything seems fine. This way, they save time and the cost of the oil change.
The driver suspects nothing. However, this is detrimental to the engine because some of the old oil remains inside, leading to component wear and lubricant degradation over time.
