Since then, the surviving cat has never left the side of one of the rescuers, sitting on his shoulder, and seems to think he is his new owner.

The rescuers named the animal very symbolically - Enkaz (from the Turkish word for "chip").

Along with him, another cat was pulled out from under the rubble, and the owners of both pets are still missing.

"Everything we eat and drink here, we share with Enkaz. We want to get some kind of clue from him to locate his owner. Maybe we'll find him. But the cat certainly won't leave here. If the owner isn't found, I plan to take him with me. It will be a memory for me," said firefighter Ali Cakas, who has made the most friends with the cat.

Enkaz also loves the other firefighters - during breaks, he sits on their hands and shoulders. But they don't get many breaks.

In 129 hours after the earthquake, the crew pulled five people out from under the rubble, writes Sozcu.
