In an interview with GQ, he stated that he will retire in 2026.

He emphasized that he wants to spend more time with his wife, Robin Dearden, who has had to adjust her life around him for many years.

"I want to change the paradigm one more time. For the past 24 years, Robin has lived in my shadow. She was a 'plus one,' the wife of a celebrity. She had to change her life and adapt it to mine. She has benefited greatly from it, but we are not equals. I want to level the playing field. She deserves that," said Cranston.

The actor added that he plans to move to France with his wife.

He also intends to sell half of Dos Hombres, the mezcal production company he co-owns with his Breaking Bad co-star and close friend, Aaron Paul.

Cranston emphasized that his main plan is to "enjoy life, drink wine, and not read scripts."

"I want to take day trips, light fires in the fireplace, drink wine with new friends, and not read scripts. This won't be like, 'Oh, I'll read and see what I'm going to do.' No, it's not a pause. It's my stop," added the actor.
